Published By: Laurie & Whittle 1763 (London)

Undated, first published 1761 and presumed first edition. Original full leather boards with gilt tooled decoration to spine. Engraved title page and dedication leaf. 45 engraved maps, including six double page and folding, all with original hand colour in outline. Contains neat inscription to fep and stamp dated 1943 to ffep. Front board detached. Moderate to heavy rubbing to cover and spine, with chipping to the extremities. Gilt tooling quite rubbed. Map 1 has a tear through which has been stitched to repair. Toning to pages and light foxing, although remarkably clean, bright and in tact for the age of the book. Colours still really vivid. Scarce, especially in original binding, a truly stunning find!
