Hopkins, organist of the Temple Church; preceded by an entirely new history of the organ, memoirs of the most eminent builders of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and other matters of research in connection with the subject by Edward F. Rimbault, LL.D. member of the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, etc. Hardback half leather with red cloth boards and gilt tooled border. Five raised bands to spine with gilt tooled title and decoration. All edge marbling to pages. Marbled endpapers. Portrait of author Edward J. Hopkins as well as a letter in his hand to previous owner have been tipped in to plain endpapers. Fold out frontispiece of plan of an organ. Neat inscription to title page. Illustrations and printed sheet music throughout. Moderate shelf wear to edges and scuffing to raised bands. Rubbing to cover. Prelims lightly toned and foxed. Tipped in letter a little toned with a few spotting marks. Fold out plan intact and complete, with some splitting to folds. Pages clean if a little toned to the edges with occasional foxing. Some neat pencil annotations occasionally throughout. Binding nice and tight. A smart book, special because of complete fold out plan as well as the signed letter. Overall very good condition. 597 pp. Heavy book may require extra postage.
