Gilt title band to spines, which have faded. Five raised bands to each volume. The spine of Volume IV is coming loose. Overall the exteriors are good despite rubbing to the edges and general shelf wear. Marbled endpapers. There is tape to the hinges of Volume I, indicating previous repair. Previous owner's inscription to Volume I. Contents clean with few spots throughout. Profusely illustrated. Marbled edges. Binding tight. Overall a good set.
