Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone true first edition hardback
J. K. Rowling
Ref. 109226 Edition. First Edition
Published By: Bloomsbury 1997 (London)
The book that started it all. The true first edition of the first book in the Harry Potter series, being a first edition, first impression. Number line 10-1 on the copyright page as called for. Other points include: repeated '1 wand' on page 53; misspelt 'philosopher'; Wendy Cooling's review. (Erringtons A1a English first edition children's artwork series in hardback.) Original publisher's pictorial laminate boards. Library circulation label indicating withdrawal, laminated barcode to ffep, label to copyright page, small ink marks to first page and star stamp to upper edge. Northamptonshire Library, interestingly local to us! Very slight toning and soiling internally, pages are otherwise for the most part bright and clean. There has been some professional and sympathetic restoration work to the binding, evident to the upper right corner of the rear board. Creasing to front and rear hinge. Spine edges and corners bumped, minor shelf wear. The binding remains vibrant and bright, and while it is evident that the book has been well-loved it remains a smart, bright copy. Very good overall. One of only 500 copies produced, this true first edition has become exceptionally rare and remains the most sought after book in the world. Harry Potter has gone on to become a successful multi-billion dollar industry, and the book that started it all is the pinnacle of any Harry Potter, and now even Literary Greats, collection.
