First edition, first impression hardback bound in original light brown cloth with gilt stamped motif to cover and gilt title to spine. Original printed pictorial yellow dust jacket, unclipped. Fold out map printed on glossy paper with colour details to rear present. Minor shelf wear, slight bruising to spine edges. A few very shallow nicks to the jacket edges, spine a touch darkened but only very slightly, the odd grazed patch but again very minor. Light shading to endpapers. Pages are crisp and clean if very slightly toned to text block edge. Overall near fine condition, a beautifully sharp example. viii + 413 + map. Dedicated to his two daughters, Adams wrote the book after his daughters insisted he record the tales he told them during car journeys. After being rejected by 13 publishers, the work went on to win awards and has remained an iconic children's classic that is sought after by collectors.
