Published By: George G. Harrap & Company Limited 1929 (London)
First edition hardback bound in original blue cloth with gilt floral motif and title to cover and spine. Top edge gilt, bottom edge rough-trimmed. Pictorial endpapers and half title. Full colour illustrated frontispiece printed on glossy paper with caption. Pictorial title page printed in red and black. Additional eleven such plates throughout. Numerous line drawings within the text. Spine edges and corners a little bumped. A few small scuffs to binding as a result of shelf wear, minor. Endpapers and prelims, lightly toned/mottled. Occasional infrequent light spotting to fore-edge of pages, text block edge. Pages otherwise bright and clean if a touch toned to the very edges. Overall a bright clean copy, a very good example. Notable for Rackham's depictions of historical costumes.
