First edition hardback in original pictorial dust jacket, unclipped. Green cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Colour photographic frontispiece printed on glossy paper. 19 black and white photographs, 20 maps and diagrams, 2 text figures throughout. Inscription in blue ink to title page dated 1964. Minor wear to spine edges of jacket, very small nick to bottom. Some light minor rubbing, a few scratches. Presents colourfully and brightly. Light shading to edges to fly leaves, small nick to front fly leaf. Light mottling to cloth cover, sunning to cloth spine. Pages clean and bright if a touch toned. Overall very good condition. xii + 180 pp. In this New Naturalist Monograph John Buxton, who is a Fellow of New College, Oxford, Tutor in English literature, and a poet, has produced a model of careful observation and a distinguished contribution to our knowledge of a single species of bird.
