First edition hardback bound in red cloth with gilt lettering to cover and spine and gilt stamped motif to cover. Light shelf wear to binding edges. Small crease to lower fore corner of cover. Spine sunned, slight lean. More wear to top edge of spine, small split in cloth. Spotting to text block edge, occasionally throughout, pages lightly and uniformly toned otherwise clean. Overall good condition. 537 pp. Rousseau was a Genevan philosopher and writer, and his autobiography was originally published four years after his death in 1782.
