Hard back, no date circa 1864. Original red cloth binding with decorative embossed detail to the front and rear boards and ornate gilt decoration to the spine. In overall good condition despite a little discolouration in places, spine lightly sunned. All edges of the text block gilt and still bright. Yellow end-papers with previous owners' inscription to the front free end-paper. Pages remarkably clean although there is some foxing to the rear. Beautifully illustrated with full page colour frontispiece and several colour illustrations throughout with black and white line drawings with-in the text. pp. xii + 432.
