First Edition of Phoenicia by George Rawlinson. Beautifully bound in tan leather with a gilt emblem for S. Michael's School, Westgate on Sea and marbled on all edges as well as endpapers. The cover is in good condition although there is discolouration to the front and rear boards and sunning to the spine. Gilt to the front and spine is still bright with little shelf wear to front and spine. Binding tight. There is a label on front endpapers awarding the book to a student of the school. Pages are generally clean although there is the occasional spot of foxing. With numerous illustrations as well as a folding map and a beautiful frontispiece of the Tomb of Esmunazar. pp. xvii + 356. Overall a good copy with beautiful binding.
