A wonderful edition of Washington Irving's classic tale enriched by the fantastical hand of Rackham. Replete with 24 illustrations applied to every aspect of the copy - pastedowns and feps, frontispiece (full colour), and throughout the majority of pages including lovely original captioned tissue guards. Outer condition is fair. Front of original dust jacket with wear and tear to corners, small tear to bottom, small stain to bottom - back of jacket worn and torn to top corners. Large closed tear to back of jacket near spine - see images. Originally colour surprisingly preserved. The gorgeous pictorial frontage is unaffected. Underneath lie beautifully understated khaki-brown pictorial boards with gilt to front. Tanning/foxing to feps and endpapers though this rarely encroaches upon the pages themselves. Overall, a visually evocative rendition with Rackham's iconic watercolour and pen-ink images taking centre stage.
