No date, circa 1882, possible first edition. Translated by Albert Alberg. Rebound in deep blue cloth with gilt titles to the front. Minor bumping to the corners with light shelf wear to the top and base of the spine otherwise in very good condition, clean and bright. Previous owners' inscriptions, one to the front free endpaper dated 1948, the other to the half title page dated 1884. Small coloured pen mark to the verso of the frontispiece. Pages 11 to 14 have a small closed tear along the margins of the text with a larger closed tear to page 16. Minor chipping to page margins towards the rear. There is foxing throughout although the text is still legible. Some of the illustrations have been coloured in sometimes neatly and sometimes not. Illustrated title page and frontispiece with numerous illustrations throughout by E. Lundgren. pp. 242. Overall a lovely scarce copy with beautiful illustrations.
