Third Edition. The Dumpy Books For Children Series Number 4. Original green cloth boards with simple design and titles in dark green. The boards are overall sound and in good condition although there is a feint circular stain to the front board. Minor loss to the lower left hand corner of the front board and a small closed tear along the top edge of the rear board. Very light fading and light discolouration to the spine. Previous owners' ink inscription to the front free endpaper. Binding weak with the front and rear boards partly detached from the text block. Pages all present and correct with minor toning otherwise clean. Beautifully illustrated by Helen Bannerman. pp. 113. Helen Bannerman was a Scottish author who married Dr William Burney Bannerman  a physician and officer in the Indian Medical Service. Her inspiration for her books came from her love of India and it's people.
