Tree calf leather with a magnificent spine showing intricate gilded tooling to the panels and bands. Gilt title to crimson panel. Lovely floral bordering to front and rear boards. Blue marbled endpapers really add a jazzy note. Pages are bright with large-sized, highly readable text and light foxing throughout. Illustrations, often full page size, are detailed and generous, including a frontispiece of Bunyan. Elaborate title page is printed in colour with a pencilled number at the top. Fold out of the facsimile of Bunyan's Will adds a nice detail. Curious inscription dated 1877 written in beautiful script. Scuffing to the edges of the spine, especially at the bottom, and slight graze to the crimson panel. Boards with occasional scratches. Tight binding despite a little cracking internally. pp.xxxii+942. Very Good. Heavy item.
