Illustrated with correct coloured maps of several counties. A very scarce set, not appeared on the market since at auction in 1974. World cat lists only two copies available in the British Libraries. Still in the original half green morocco bindings, with marbled paper covered boards. Original red label band with gilt titles to the spine, gilt tooling and volume number also to spines. Very good condition, just a little bumping to the corners and minor loss to the spine ends. Slightly browned but no staining or marking to the boards. Endpapers a little cracked but bindings still holding fairly tight. Attractive engraved frontispiece to volume one, plus 39 road maps, all present. No map of Warwickshire but no evidence that one was ever present. All maps in very good condition. Occasional loss to the margins of text pages, and minor foxing but overall contents in nice condition. Previous owners book plate and small newspaper clipping taped to the front pastedown of Volume one. Old price in blue felt tip. Price and book plate also to the front pastedown of Volume two. ffep to volume 2 missing. Vol 1 iv + 195pp.  Vol 2 248pp.
