The Tale of Peter Rabbit
Illustrated By: Beatrix Potter
Published By: Frederick Warne & Co 1902 (London)
A fantastic first trade edition, in the best condition that we've ever seen for this title. Neat original publisher's dark brown-green boards with a white paper pictorial label pasted to the front; it depicts a charming Peter Rabbit in his blue coat, running to the right. The title is stamped in white to the spine and the front cover, where it is accompanied by the author's name. Covers are sharp with no bumping or chipping. The characteristic lettering shows a white dot centred in the 'O'. Endpapers have a grey leaf pattern, with a neat inscription in ink by a previous owner dated 1902 written on the front free endpaper. There are 30 illustrations in colour throughout, which Beatrix herself famously insisted upon. Contents clean and bright. 98pp. Overall, this is a rare and charming little book in as perfect condition as you will find which continues to hold its value and appeal throughout the years. Ideal for collectors. Please contact us if you would like any more information regarding this copy of the well-loved children's tales.
