First edition hardback bound in original black cloth with gilt pictorial motif to cover and title to spine. Original pictorial dust jacket, unclipped. Pictorial endpapers. Ink sketch of a school-girl's face wearing glasses and the St Trinian's hat, inscription reads: 'with best wishes / Ronald Searle / [signature]'. Illustrated frontispiece. Numerous photographs and illustrations throughout. Cut out of a magazine article recounting Searle's visit to see what a 'real girls'-school' was like at Acton Reynold. A few light marks to cloth cover. Tape to verso of jacket spine, closing a tear approx. 3cm long. Lights shelf wear along top edge of jacket. Ink smudges to page facing the sketch. Otherwise a bright clean copy. Overall very good condition. 118 pp. Collectable book indeed, with the original sketch breathing even more life into Searle's iconic illustrations.
