First thus edition, hardback bound in original blue-purple cloth, with black bind to spine and silver lettering. Original pictorial dust jacket, unclipped. Top edge blue. Pictorial motif to title page. Map printed on glossy paper facing chapter one. Numerous full page illustrations throughout, as well as line drawings within the text. Minor shelf wear to cloth binding. Marginal foxing to half title through dedication page, and then the last few pages. Light spotting to text block edge and occasionally throughout. Pages otherwise clean and bright if only a touch toned. Jacket has small nicks to fore-corners, creasing to lower edge of front panel, chip over top of fold approx. 1cm, small chips to spine edges, small scuffed patch over title to spine, chips to both edges of rear panel no bigger than 1cm, the odd closed split, scuffed patch to rear panel approx. 2cm. Jacket is largely complete and still bright and striking. Overall very good condition with good only jacket. A collectable copy.
