Hardback bound in original green cloth with blind stamped floral border to boards and pictorial gilt stamped title to cover and spine. All edges gilt. Prize book plate to fep dated 1867 for Raglan House School. Striking and particularly vivid colour engraved frontispiece and title page. Second title page with date. Numerous engraved vignettes throughout. Light rubbing and shelf wear, particularly to spine edges. Scattered foxing and some light uniform toning. Stitching to gutters visible occasionally but not particularly cracked, binding sound. Overall very good condition. vii + 228 pp. Charming book containing instructions for indoor and playground games as well as early football, hockey, golf, croquet, bowls, gymnastics, fencing, cricket, archery, angling, rowing, chess and much more. From the estate of a Beeton descendant. An excellent example of this scarce book with nice provenance.
