Circa 1853. Cloth bound with decorating embossing to the board and gilt titles to the spine. In overall good condition although a little sunned to the extremities and spine. Yellow end-papers with "The Hope Trust" label to the front paste down. There is also an ink stamp from The Hope Trust to the title page. Binding tight. Pencil notation to the verso of the front free end-paper otherwise a good clean copy. pp. 216. Overall a good copy of a scarce title. Henry Ward Beecher was an American Clergyman known for his support of the abolition of slavery. This book is from Major Beeton's private library.
