Reprint, 1906. Westward Ho! Or the Voyages and Adventures of Sir Amyas Leigh, Knight, of Burrough, in the County of Devon, in the Reign of Her Most Glorious Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Rendered into Modern English by Charles Kingsley. Beautifully bound in red tan leather with gilt details on corners of front and rear cover, as well as a gilt emblem for Westminster City School, with its motto. The endpapers and all edges of the text block are marbled, with the colours still very bright. The front and rear covers are in good clean condition with very little wear although there is some discolouration to the boards. Gilt to the front and spine still bright, minimal shelf wear to the spine. Binding tight. Attached to the front endsheet is a label awarding the book to a student of Westminster City School. Pages are clean throughout. With numerous engravings, one of which is a beautiful frontispiece of Queen Elizabeth I. pp. 591. Overall a stunning copy.
