Handsome full leather binding with decorative embossing to the boards and gilt titles to the spine. The binding is in good condition despite a little wear tot he extremities. All edges of the text block gilt which is still bright and clean. Marbled end-papers with presentation label to the front paste down dated 1862. Previous owner's neat, small sticker to the front free end paper. Light foxing to the prelims, includes beautiful frontispiece of Michelangelo's Delphic Sibyl from the Sistine Chapel and vignette to the title page. Pages are clean throughout. pp.326. Overall a very good copy, would make an ideal gift.
