Ref. 112738   Edition. First Edition First Issue

Published By: Faber & Gwyer Limited 1928 (London)

An uncommon copy of Sassoon's classic tale, with a particularly intriguing blurb - 'This is fiction, but with a difference - for the author, who wishes at present to remain anonymous, has lived himself the life of his hero.' First edition first issue - the first true print of the book. Features an attractive original cream dust jacket with cobalt blue text, protected by removable clear plastic overlay. Jacket is price clipped shows discolouration commensurate with age, and shelf wear to extremities. Underneath the jacket lie blue cloth boards. Said boards and spine are faded in parts commensurate with age. Text block itself is in lovely condition and, aside from darkening to top edge and extremely subtle foxing - near unnoticeable - to front free endpaper, pages are free of any forms of marking. Text is very bright and clear throughout. Overall, and rare and desirable edition of Sassoon's prose work, with touches that make for a scarce copy.
