Five volumes. Volumes I, II, III, IV, & VI. First Edition Hard Back. Uniformly bound in half tan leather with marble paper covered boards. Although the binding is sound the boards do show some rubbing and wear while the leather is a little worn to the extremities. Five raised bands and two title bands to the spines. Spines have sunned despite this the gilt titles remain bright. There is the occasional foxing and thumb mark throughout especially to the prelims and towards the rear otherwise the pages are clean. Plate missing to volumes II & IV. Plates are a little foxed and some are slightly toned to the extremities. Volume 1, pp. vii + 636, published 1837. Contains Public Life of Mr Tulrumble by Boz, Oliver Twist by Boz, Family Stories by Thomas Ingoldsby, A Passage in the Life of Beaumarchais by George Hogarth and many more. Volume II, pp. 636, published 1837. Contains Poetry by Mrs Cornwell Baron Wilson and many more. Volume III, pp. 628, published 1838. Contains Oliver Twist by Boz and many more. Volume IV, pp. 632, published 1838. Contains Oliver Twist by Boz, Moliere and his Wife by George Hogarth and many more. Volume VI, pp. 658, published 1839. Overall a good set. Edited by Boz (Charles Dickens). A monthly magazine mainly of original short stories, serialisations and verse with illustrations by George Cruikshank.
