The Poems of Oscar Wilde with the Ballad of Reading Gaol
Oscar Wilde
Ref. 115460 Edition. Ninth Edition
Published By: Methuen & Co. 1909 (London)
A handsomely bound little collection of Wilde's poetry, rare to see in such a format. Printed by Riviere & Sons, one of the best large-scale binderies active in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Quarter-bound in red leather with matching cloth - gilt tooling to front and back with corner bumps. Spine with five raised bands and delicate gilt floral motifs and titling; bumping to head. Hinges starting. Subtle marbled pastedowns and endpapers have a little edge discolouration but text is clear, clean, and undamaged throughout. Very nice paper used with many deckled edges. Gilt to top edge. Overall, a charming little collection that would sit perfectly on the bookshelf of any poetry lover.
