Swallows and Amazons the first in the series established his reputation as being one of the best English writers of children's books. This set includes not only Swallows and Amazons but Swallowdale, Peter Duck, Winter Holiday, Coot Club, Pigeon Post, We Didn't Mean To Go To Sea, Secret Water, The Big Six, Missee Lee, The Picts And The Martyrs, Great Northern. All with beautifully illustrated dust jacket's. Original green cloth boards in good condition, dust jacket's are worn with pieces missing. Slight lean to the spine on some volumes. Pages are generally very clean with just the occasional spot of foxing. Beautifully illustrated by Arthur Ransome with help from Miss Nancy Blackett. We Didn't Mean To Go To Sea, Secret Water, The Big Six, Missee Lee and the Picts and The Martyrs are all First Editions. Overall a wonderful set.
