First Edition Hard Back. Bound in the publishers' original rich navy cloth with small gilt pictorial to the front and gilt titles to the spine. The spine is a little crumpled with shelf wear to the top and base however the boards are clean and in good condition, minor bumping to the corners, with the gilt pictorial still bright. Binding tight. Light foxing to the prelims although the pages are very clean throughout with no inscriptions or foxing. Illustrated with frontispiece portrait and a further twenty six illustrations. pp. 480 + 2. Overall a very good copy.
