Beautiful presentation set bound in rich navy leather with decorative gilt borders and coat of arms to the front. Ornate gilt decoration and red title band in between five raised bands to the spines. Volumes I to III are a little rubbed and worn with light fading to the spine although generally in good condition, volume IV however, the front board is detached together with the ffep and first prelim, with a closed tear to the top of the spine. All edges of the text block and endpapers are marbled with presentation labels to the front pastedowns on the first three volumes. Pages are lightly toned with the occasional spot of foxing and pencil underlining otherwise in good clean condition. Volume I, Chaucer to Donne, pp. xlvii + 566. Volume II, Ben Jonson to Dryden, pp. 496. Volume III, Addison to Blake, pp. xii + 608. Volume IV, Wordsworth to Tennyson, pp. xvi + 828. Overall a good set and priced according to condition.
