First Edition Hardback. Signed by the author to the half title page. The beautifully illustrated dustjacket is in a good clean condition and shows just a little wear to the extremities. Not price clipped. Rich blue cloth boards with bright gilt titles to the front and spine are in excellent condition. All edges of the text block are free of any marks. Illustrated endpapers with no previous owners' inscriptions or bookplates. The pages throughout are beautifully illustrated and appear unread. pp. 391. Overall a very good copy. Over 500 plates with 175 in colour illustrate E.W. Cooke's work from highly finished paintings to the delightful hasty sketches, many of which are valuable records of nautical history.
