Limited Edition, A Facsimile Edition of Beeton's Christmas Annual for 1887 strictly Limited to 500 copies numbered consecutively, of the 100 copies Allocated To The Sherlock Holmes Society of London. This Copy Is No. Forty Eight. Containing also Two original Drawing Room Plays, Food For Powder by R. Andre, The Four Leaved Shamrock by C.D. Hamilton, with engravings by DH Friston, Matt Stretch, and R.Andre. The beautiful paper covers are clean and in very good condition, with slight discolouration to the spine and a small closed tear to the base. The illustrated covers are themselves protected by overlaying red card with titles and an illustration of Sherlock Holmes in black to the front. Internally the pages are free of any marks, foxing or inscriptions, with adverts of the time to the front, rear and within the pages. pp. 168 + publishers' note. The original edition of A Study in Scarlet is
considered one of the most important works in the history of detective fiction,
and it is almost impossible to find in its original form. As a result, this
limited edition with the remarkable facsimile of the original front cover, an exact replica of the cover that appeared on the first edition of the novel in 1887, is highly valued by book collectors and fans of Sherlock Holmes.
