Hardback. First Edition. Sixty Three photographs by Bill Brandt with and introduction by Raymond Mortimer. Pictorial paper covered boards with printed titles in red to the front and spine. The boards are a little worn to the extremities, with a few scratches to the surface, otherwise in good condition. The spine has some tape reapair to the top and base. There is a small piece missing as well as a closed tear along the front outer hinge. Internally the binding is tight with no cracking to the gutters. Photographic endpapers are free of any book plates or inscriptions. The reast of the pages are generally clean although there are a few thumb marks to the prelims. One of Brandt's first works after relocating to London in the 1930's.
