Illustrated By: William Blake

A strong binding in sulphur cloth imprinted with illustrations by William Blake. The titles are in a thick gilt to the spine, very attractive. Translated by Cary, introduced by Robin Hamlyn, and throughout there are Blake's exceptional water colours detailing the layers of medieval Hell Dante envisaged. Housed in a burgundy slipcase with gilt titles to one side of the casing which provides good protection. Here is the first of Dante's epic and epoch-defining trilogy. pp.pp.151. Very good overall. A dazzling compilation of high quality artwork and soaring literaty imagination.
