Hardback. First published in 1906 this edition is from 1908. Complete with a glassine wrapper which may be the original although not printed. The original red paper covered boards show a little discolouration with a piece missing to the top and base of the spine. Pretty pictorial paper on-lay to the front is clean and shows no wear. Pictorial front endpaper shows a little mark, nothing serious. Small neat owner's signature and embossed stamp to the half title page. The rest of the pages are clean with just the occasional thumb mark. Beautifully illustrated with 27 colour plates, including frontispiece. Overall a charming copy with the story's origins in a letter written in 1893 by Beatrix Potter.
