48 editions over almost five years. First published by S. O. Beeton in 1855, these volumes mark the first few years of Boy’s Own Magazine in print. With a very wide range of topics like politics, history and the natural world, covered in continuing serials such as Facts, Fancies, and Phenomena which discusses “How to Make a Cheap Fountain” and “Who Founded Paris?”, as well as The Deadly Snake and Manly Exercises. The series of magazines also includes individual one-off stories appearing as a single article like An Adventure in Sicily and Prisoners of the Tower: Ranulph Flambert, Bishop of Durham; William Longchamp, Bishop of Ely; William Fitzosbert; John Courey, Earl of Ulster. Each volume is well-kept with original covers with the exception of a few editions which have been labelled with publishing date by original owner, and compiled into two matching modern binders.
