This hardback book contains a unique collection of newspaper clippings of steam trains from Stephenson's Locomotion to The Flying Scotsman. There is no particular order in which they appear and no date given of when the collection was started or finished. The book is bound in black cloth and does show some wear, the initials. N.E.R. Miscellaneous Standards appear to the front board. Marbled endpapers with an image to each, with three pages of a magazine taped to the rear as well. There is an owner's inscription to the verso of the front free endpaper. The pages are a little grubby with cracking to the rear, although no pages are loose. Some of the clippings featured are; "A 12 Coupled Locomotive of 45 Years Ago" with 1860 written in pencil, taken from The Railway Magazine, "Useful But Scarcely Ornamental" Locomotive No 590, Old Express Engine Great Northern Railway no.208, The Broad-Gauge Locomotive "Lord Of the Isles", "Aldourie", A Caterpillar on the GWR.. and many many more. There are approximately 42 pages with pages counted as a double, 44 pages including the newspaper clippings to the rear. A unique example. More images are available upon request.
