The front of the dust jacket depicts a view down St Marys Hill, looking south over the medieval town brdge to St Martin's from an original etching by Thomas Rowlandson. The frontispiece depicts St Marys Hill, view north to St Mary's Church, in 1873. Halfway up, can be seen the sign of the Queen's Head Inn, with the landlord's inscription beneath, J. Foster. A fascinating look at Stamford' past.
