A History of British Butterflies

Reverend Francis Orpen Morris

Edition: 7th Edition

Illustrated By: Reverend Francis Orpen Morris

St Mary's Books is proud to present this lovely 1893 seventh edition of "A History of British Butterflies" by Rev. F. O. Morris. This hardback book is bound in a beautiful forest green wave effect cloth and features stunning gilt engravings to the cover and spine of butterflies and caterpillars among foliage. Beyond the forest green free endpapers, this book has 234 pages of text (including indices), supplemented by 79 beautiful plates coloured by hand, the first of which is the book's frontispiece, which features a caterpillar, pupa, and a stunning yellow and blue butterfly. This remarkable book is in good condition - the corners are bumped and there is foxing throughout the book. However, the text remains clear and readable, and each of the colour plates are intact, making any damage more than fair considering the age and rarity of the book. This lovely book is looking for a new home and would be the perfect gift for any natural historian or collector.
