St Mary's Books is proud to present this stunning 1895 first edition, second impression of Jane Austen's iconic work, "Pride and Prejudice". This exceptionally bright hardback copy, bound in a lovely forest green cloth with all edge gilt, features Hugh Thompson's gorgeous gold gilt illustrated peacock to its cover, and further peacock motifs to its spine. Inside, past the stunning dark green free endpapers and facsimile signature, one finds further charming illustrations by Thompson, such as the frontispiece "Reading Jane's letters", and as decorations throughout the book. This book has i-xxvii, and 476 pages of text housing Austen's most famous and classic tale - the perfect gift to celebrate 250 years since Jane Austen's birth. This book is in very good condition - though there are some slight bumps and signs of wear, and some minor foxing to the prelims, this is otherwise a very clean, bright, and readable copy of a wonderful piece of literature.
