Hardback. An early instructional book for domestic staff taking on a new role of professional driver role of chauffeur in Edwardian England. It was written by "A Four Inch Driver" a pseudonym for an author who was an experienced participant in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy motor race, which had an engine formula limit of four inches. Handsomely bound in full green cloth with printed titles in black to the front and spine. Illustrated with several diagrams and photographic plates. Overall a very good copy. The titles to the front board and spine have faded with minor discolouration. The binding however, is very clean and in good condition. Neat signature to the front free endpaper and the very occasional spot of foxing to the pages, otherwise a good copy. pp. 140. A lovely gift for any motoring enthusiast.
