Hardback.1938, third impression. An early copy, of Dorothy L. Sayers most famous and popular story featuring Lord Peter Wimsey. Complete with the famous yellow dust jacket of the publisher Victor Gollancz with printed titles in magenta and black to the front and spine. The dust jacket has faded with a little discolouration to the front, closed tears and wear to the base of the spine. Underneath lie blue cloth boards which are a little worn, however they are free of any marks and present well. Slight lean to the spine. Small inscription to the front free endpaper. The text block is tight and the pages are lightly toned with a spot of foxing to the endpapers, otherwise very clean. pp. 446. An ideal addition for any Dorothy L. Sayers fan.
