William Mitchell

Edition: Second Printing

Published By: G.P. Putnam's Sons

Hardback. Second printing, September 1925. A very good copy of a scarce title. Handsomely bound in green cloth with bright gilt titles to the front. The binding is in a good clean condition and shows very little wear, although the spine is lightly toned and the titles faded. The text block is tight with no loose pages. Pictorial humorous endpapers. The pages from vii to x have pieces missing along the margins of the text, this does not affect the text. There is scattered foxing predominately to the rear otherwise a good clean copy. pp. xxiv + 261. In this book US Army General William "Billy" Mitchell argues for establishing air power as the primary and independent branch of the American Military for both national defense and commercial development. Mitchell contended that aircraft had surpassed naval vessels in strategic importance and would be the decisive factor in future wars.
