Published By: F. C. Westley

St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1838 first edition of "Aeronautica; or, Sketches Illustrative of the Theory and Practice of Aerostation: Comprising an Enlarged Account of the Late Aerial Expedition to Germany" by Monck Mason, Esq.. Bound in brown cloth with intricate blind tooling on the boards, this hardback book contains i-vii, 355pp. and 4 pages of advertisements to the back of the book. This text, which is a compendium of contemporary achievements in the art of "aerostation", is supplemented by stunning full-page black and white illustrations, matching the frontispiece which depicts Monck Mason, Charles Green and Rob Hollow - famed aeronauts of their day. This copy is in fair condition - the boards are bumped and worn, the title page is torn, and there is significant foxing throughout. However, it is nevertheless a remarkable book which is looking for a new home.
