Hardback. The large paper edition of which only two hundred copies were printed at the Riverside Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA In September, 1919. A handsome copy half bound with cream paper covered boards and green silk cloth sides with gilt lettering and Republique Francoise emblem to the front and spine. Illustrated with 19 stunning tipped-in clour plates, by the Author, 11 of which depict aerial fights with 8 portraits of French and American World War One fighter pilots. Signed by the Author to one of the blank pages. There is a little fraying of the cloth to the front and the cream binding has darkened a little especially to the spine. Although the binding presents well and is generally in good condition. There are no marks, inscriptions or foxing to the pages and text block remains quite firm. A few of the pages are uncut. Housed in a lightly discoloured but firm slip case. Overall a lovely copy. Written and Illustrated by the author, this books brings together Henry Farre's personnal experiences and exploits in the Great War starting on December 1914 as he left Paris to join the Twenty First Squadron V.B. This account is interspersed with dialogue between Farre and the fighter pilots he flew alongside. A remarkable book.
