Hardback. T. Wewege-Smiths' 1937 firsthand account of The Chaco War between 1932 and 1935 between Bolivia and Paraguay. A first edition, complete with dust jacket, with burgundy cloth boards underneath. Illustrated with numerous black and white photographic plates. Overall a very good copy of a scarce title. The dust jacket has a bright and clean front cover although there is a little toning to the spine with chipping to the top and base. Minor edge wear to the rear. Not price clipped. The binding is in very good condition despite a little bumping to the base of the spine. Foxing along the fore-edge with a litle foxing to the page margins. The pages, however are generally clean throughout. pp. 288 +16. This book covers the brutal, largely forgotten conflict fought over the arid, resource-rich Chaco Boreal region. Written from the viewpoint of a foreign mercenary or adventurer working as a pilot for the Bolivian side.
