Hardback. A First Edition set of Winston Churchill's most inspirational and memorable War Speeches. The speeches not only served as wartime morale boosters but also earned him the Nobel Prize for literature in 1953, with many delivered in Parliament or broadcast live to the nation. Compiled by Charles Eade this three volume set are complete with their dust jackets. Underneath lie navy cloth boards with bright gilt titles to the spines. The dust jackets are in good condition despite a little foxing and edge wear. There are small pieces missing to the spine's of volume one and volume three with small holes to the navy cloth (spine) on volume three. Foxing, tape residue and booksellers ink stamp to the endpapers of volume three. Neat inscription and ink book plate to the front free endpaper of the first two volumes while the rest of the pages are clean. Volume one, published, 1951. pp. xv + 483. Volume Two, published 1952, pp. xv + 560. Volume Three, published 1952, pp. xvi + 578. Overall a very good set, the definitive collection of Churchill's powerful oratory from 1940 to 1945.
