St Mary's Books are proud to present this 1955 first edition of "Against the Sun: The Story of Wing Commander Roland Beamont, D. S. O., O. B. E., D. F. C., Pilot of the Canberra and the P. 1" by Edward Lanchbery, that is signed by Wing Commander Roland "Bee" Beamont, and includes some of his signed personal correspondence. Housed in its original pictorial dustjacket featuring a black and white photograph of an aeroplane, this hardback book is bound in dark blue cloth with silver gilt lettering to the spine. Inside, one finds 270 pages of text, peppered with black and white photographs, detailing Beamont's flying career and experiences with the P. 1, Britain's first truly supersonic fighter. This copy is in very good condition - the dustjacket and the book itself have been remarkably well preserved, and appear almost as-new. "Against the Sun" is looking for a new home, and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation or autobiography enthusiasts.
