This lovely 1894 new edition of "Marvels Over our Heads: From "The Aerial World"" by Dr. G. Hartwig is now in the possession of St Mary's Books. Bound in turqoise cloth with a stunning illustration of a balloon falling into the sea at sunset on the cover, this hardback book is additionally embellished with all-edge gilt. Inside, one finds i-x, 142 pages of text, and 2 pages of a "Select List of School Prizes" at the back of the book. This lovely edition features 29 charming black ink illustrations throughout the book, such as the frontispiece image, "Balloon floating on water", and highlights both the experience and the weather conditions one may face whilst travelling by air. This book is in very good condition, with few notable blemishes or imperfections other than some minor bumping to the cover and some very minor foxing. "Marvels Over our Heads" is looking for a new home, and would make for the perfect gift for any early aviation enthusiast.
