Hardback. First Edition. This is the story of the first air crossing of the South Pacific Ocean. In March 1951, the Catalina flying boat Frigate Bird, commanded by Captain P.G. Taylor, made the first air crossing of the South Pacific Ocean from Sydney to Valparaiso, Chile. This copy is complete with a pictorial dust jacket which is in good condition despite a little edge wear and fading to the spine. There is a little tape residue to the extremities of the dust jacket and to the front and rear endpapers. The blue cloth boards underneath are in very good condition with letters in white to the spine. While internally the pages are clean and illustrated with several black and white photographic plates. pp.xii + 243.  Overall a very good copy. A must for any aviation enthusiast.
