Over the German Lines

Wings

Published By: Hodder and Stoughton

St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1918 edition of "Over the German Lines and Other Sketchs Illustrating the Life and Work of an Artillery Squadron of the R. A. F. in France" by "Wings". Housed in its original pictorial dustjacket featuring a detailed full-colour illustration of a plane flying over gunners attempting to shoot it down, this hardback book is bound in mustard yellow cloth with brown ink lettering and a graphic illustration of an aeroplane. Inside, one finds i-xxiv and 184 pages of text containing an account of the facts of the authors wartime experiences presented in an intriguing and dramatic style, so much so they appear fictional. Originally constructed by the author as a set of sketches to give his parents as sense of "what we do", this hardback book, and its original dustjacket, are in very good condition. Other than a tear to the spine of the dustjacket and some minor foxing throughout the text, it remains clean and readable, remarkably so given its age and rarity. "Over the German Lines" is looking for a new home, and would make for a perfect gift for any military historian hoping to gain a more personal account of the experiences of war.
