Hardback. A First Edition copy signed by Sir Alliot Verdon-Roe, a pioneer of British Aviation, to the front free endpaper. This copy is complete with an unclipped dust jacket over blue cloth boards. The book is illustrated with several black and white photographic images, including a frontispiece. Overall a very good copy with the pictorial dustjacket showing just a lttle edge wear, foxing and a closed tear to the rear, The pages within are clean despite the very occasional spot of foxing. There is a black and white clipping of Sir Alliot Verdon-Roe which has been pasted onto the front free endpaper with his signature to the base. pp. 140 + 3. With a foreword by Neville Duke. This biography by Edward Lanchbery details the life of Sir Verdon-Roe from his early experiments with flight, through his struggles to establish a manufacturing industry, and his role into developing iconic aircraft.
